Rompus Studios Document Style Guide

Rompus Studios Publishing Standards

Purpose & Philosophy

This guide defines the visual language for all Rompus Studios publications. The aesthetic draws from vintage nautical journals, ship manifests, and mid-century print publications—think Life Aquatic meets Art Deco. The goal is functional elegance: documents that are beautiful, readable, and optimized for the browser-to-PDF workflow.

These specifications are organized by implementation order. Build your document foundation first, then layer typography, then add components. This sequence ensures consistency and prevents conflicting rules.

1. Foundation: Page Setup & Borders

Page Configuration

Page size: US Letter (8.5" × 11")

Page margins: 0.45in on all sides (this is the content margin inside the border system)

Additional padding: 0.25in inside content margin for breathing room

Art Deco Double Border System

Every page must feature the double border system. This is non-negotiable—it's the visual signature of all Rompus publications.

Outer Border:

Inner Border:

Critical Rule: All content must stay inside the inner border frame. Nothing extends to page edges.

2. Typography System

Font Families

Headers: Courier New, monospace (evokes typewritten manifests and technical documents)

Body text: Segoe UI, Tahoma, Geneva, Verdana, sans-serif (clean, readable, professional)
