Project Status: Needs Consulting
This project requires brainstorming and professional consultation before scope can be defined. The space has multiple overlapping issues, and the best approach isn't obvious. This page captures what we know and what we need to figure out.
Flooring
Bare concrete
Walls
Dirty and broken drywall
Layout/Function
Awkward arrangement and poor use of space — specifics TBD
Approach A — Cosmetic Refresh
Patch/repair drywall, paint walls and ceiling, seal or paint concrete floor. Keeps existing layout. Makes room cleaner and more finished without addressing underlying space issues.
Rough estimate: $500 – $1,500 (DIY-friendly)
Approach B — Functional Upgrade
Repair drywall properly (may involve replacing sections), add proper flooring (vinyl plank, tile, or sealed/painted concrete), improve storage and organization. Address the space issues within existing footprint.
Rough estimate: $2,000 – $5,000
Approach C — Full Remodel
Complete overhaul: new drywall, proper flooring, reconfigure layout if plumbing allows, built-in storage, improved lighting. Creates a fully functional, pleasant utility space.
Rough estimate: $5,000 – $12,000+
